Our Mission
SVULadies.com strives to be a safe haven for anyone who has been the victim of a crime either by providing a starting point of helpful resources or as a creative outlet or a place just to veg out. Read, write, draw, and photograph. Whatever you need to do to unwind is fine by us.
We will respect you and we ask that you respect us. The world is full of negativity, and we don’t need anymore of that than what already exists.
If you are a writer, feel free to post your stories here. While we are primarily a fanfic site, original fiction is certainly welcome, as are articles and journal entries, as well as essay’s surrounding topics that go along with the general theme of the site.
Think of fanfic as an acting job on a soap opera. Soaps aren’t the highest regarded genre to act in, but they help you get your feet wet and you learn a lot about the craft of acting. Writing is something you only get better at by doing; so writing fanfic is beneficial if for no other reason than it keeps you sharp.
SVULadies exists because we love L&O: SVU. We love the female characters on the show and we appreciate Mr. Wolf for giving us female characters that are strong and independent and whom we rarely see being beaten or becoming victims. For that, we thank you Mr. Wolf.
Originally started as a fan fiction/ fansite, I saw the opportunity to do something more in this community. We are fans of Law & Order: SVU, a show that deals with sexually based crimes. Many of us in this community have either been the victims of sexual assault or sexual abuse. Perhaps because of this, we identify with the female characters in this Dick Wolf created universe. Whatever our reasons for watching, we watch, and sometimes we are helped or encouraged by an episode.
For this reason, SVULadies.com exists. We write about our characters and take them places network TV would never allow, or we work through some of our own issues by writing stories or doing artwork related to our favorite characters and or episodes. And sometimes, we manage to help people with our stories and shared experiences.
This site is also meant to be a beginners resource for writing and for finding where to get help if you or someone you know has been the victim of a sexually based crime.
You are not alone and it is not your fault. EVER.
We do not collect personal information. Period. We do not sell our email list. Period. We don’t like Spam and we aren’t going to be a part of helping Spam the Internet.
